Cost of Rehab

What is the Cost of Rehab?

When considering checking-in to a rehabilitation center for substance abuse treatment, it is always wise to consider the correct type of treatment required, and the costs involved for such a treatment. Like so many things, the cost of rehab can vary from the basic, yet affordable to the high-end, luxury treatment commonly sought by celebrities and CEOs.

Factors Affecting the Cost of Rehab

There are several factors that can affect the final costs of rehabilitation treatment and care.

Seeking residential, or inpatient care will, more often than not, result in higher bills (which will include the cost of semi-/private accommodation and care) than if treatment is received through an outpatient program.

In a similar sense, cost-effective, low-budget rehab centers do not provide the same level of luxury and comfort as an executive treatment facility, but the cost of rehab will be more affordable to many more clients.

The type of treatment being sought will also affect the final cost of rehab. Whereas a 3-4 week rehab and detox treatment for alcoholism may be affordable for many, complex and long-term treatment for issues such as dual diagnosis or multiple addiction, will inevitably cost much more than a single addiction rehabilitation treatment.

Cost of Rehab

The financial burden of rehab treatment can now be managed and offset with many state and national financing options and programs, or through parity protection regarding private health insurance policies or employer-subsidized programs.

Although coverage is dependent on the kind of policy held by an individual, many private health insurance companies have begun to implement rehab treatment as a necessary health concern, including Aetna, BlueCross/BlueShield, Cigna, and Preferred One.

On average, a full treatment program (4-6 weeks) at a reputable rehabilitation facility will cost between $5,000 – $7,500 for outpatient treatment for single addiction cases, while residential, inpatient treatment for addiction typically costs between $10,000 – $18,000, depending on the complexity of the addiction case.

Many luxury rehabilitation centers now charge $,1000+ per day and only accept privately-financed clientele. In return, however, clients live as though at a resort, with private chefs and spa treatments in idyllic locations.

The thought of rehab treatment expenses is a significant factor in many addicts’ decisions not to seek adequate, professional care for his or her substance abuse problems. Although these concerns are legitimate, receiving the help to achieve long-lasting sobriety will always be worth the cost.
